How To Make A Vertical Succulent Garden Step By Step

I was hoping you could pay close attention to this process which I’m about to show you now because a little mistake can result in imperfect work.

But always feel free to add your designs or use manual tools instead of electrical.

I have made beautiful designs concerning vertical garden planters, so read our blog post on making a vertical wall garden planter.

1. Create The Outer Frame For The Vertical Succulent Garden

Measure the frame you will use as the base for your vertical garden and cut wooden slats to size to create the outer frame.

In this frame, from behind, the metal mesh that will hold the vertical garden will be stapled.

Use a drill driver and wood screws to attach the outer frame to the base frame.

So that the wood does not open when you screw, you can pre-drill it with a fine bit.

2. Cut And Staple The Mesh To The Wood

Cut the metal mesh that will hold the vertical garden. Consider the measurements of the external wooden frame that you have screwed together and fixed with the help of a manual stapler.

We have used metal chicken wire, but you can use plastic garden mesh or geotextile fabric.

3. Pour The Substrate Into The Base Of The Vertical Succulent Garden

Dismantle the base frame, which must have a bottom, and spread the substrate with the help of a small shovel.

Add a lot of soil: the substrate layer must be dense for the plants to take well.

Compact the earth well with your hands and the help of a little water.

Transplant The Succulents Into The Vertical Succulent Garden

Take the plants out of their pots and remove excess soil to transplant them into your vertical garden.

With the help of pruning shears, adapt the plants and their roots without being too large.

Once ready, it’s time to move them to the vertical garden so they are well attached.

Open small holes in the metal mesh with cutting pliers and insert the plants without making them too loose.

Make a nice composition and try to keep the mesh smooth. Once you’re done, add more substrate if necessary and compact.

Moisten the soil to compact it and allow it to dry before moving your vertical garden.

Ready! How about? As we have done, you can make a cool composition with plants and support your vertical garden on the wall.
