How To Make Soap Dishes Out Of Clay.

We will use coiling techniques and stoneware clay to make this soap dish out of clay.

They are all techniques, such as broomstick Techniques and others.

In this technique, you basically make clay cylinders with your hands and then join them one on top of the other and thus be able to make the shape you have in mind.

With the coiling technique, you can make many pieces for your kitchen, living room, or any part of your home, such as cups, bowls, and vases.

A soap holder is an object that, yes, there is in our houses; indeed, either it was already installed, or you decided to buy one for your bathroom.

But do not overbuy; you can make it with your hands and save money simultaneously.

To make the soap dish, you are going to put into practice the coiling technique.

We will use stoneware clay that supports the water that falls on it; incidentally, you can have a soap dish in a color other than white.

Step 1: The first thing you have to do is the base, which will be in the shape of a square, to make the soap dish in the image above.

You will create the entire shape from this base with the coil.

To make the base of your soap holder, mold around clay in your palm and roll the clay with a bottle or kitchen roller.

Note: don’t make the clay to be too flat. The acceptable size should be at least half an inch thick.

Before rolling the clay on a table, place a piece of clothes on top of the working surface to avoid the clay from holding together with the table.

Step 2; use a knife to cut the clay into a square shape that is the base of the soap holder.

Step 3: make the coil you need to build your soap dish.

Take a piece of clay and place it on your palm and begin to move its front and back on your palm.

Once you have gotten the shape of a cucumber or cylinder, place it on the table or working surface and move it front and back to get long and smooth clay.

It is a straightforward technique to achieve, but you must keep a few things in mind:

Always do the movement with the palm of your hands and not your fingers because the coil will have the same shape.

To stretch your coil, you have to place your palm at the center of the coil and move your hand to one edge. Do this to both sides of the coil.

How can this be achieved? Let me explain.

Place your hand on the center of the coil and slightly move your palm backward and forward towards the top and bottom of the clay.

Then you will notice that your clay has started and increased in length.

Repeat the process so you will have several coils.

Step 4: After making several coils, you can start placing them individually.

Pick up one of your coils and place it at the edge of your square shape, the soap dish’s base.

To make the walls of the soap dish, place the coil on top of the base around the base by following the shape of the base.

Cut the clay when it gets to the beginning of the coiling.

Make sure the cutting of the clay lap to each other.  If it does not lap or you notice any gap use little clay to fill it.

Repeat this process until you get the desired height of your soap dish.

Step 5: Every time you place a new coil on top of another, you can join them with your finger so that the union is not noticeable.

It should be done first from the bottom up and then from the top down, as if you were pulling the clay.

It would be best if you smoothed the walls very well to look great on you.

Step 6: Since you have the finished shape, there are only two steps left, one: make the holes right in the center for the water outlet.

Step 7: And two, take your piece to the oven at 1,200°C for 2 and 3 hours and then decorate it as you wish, and it is ready to decorate your bathroom.
